There are many stories I could tell you about my travels around the globe over my 8 years in the Marine Corps.  One story stands out in my mind though because it helped me to remember that no matter your age, ethnicity, religion, or backround, you can learn something from everyone you meet!

When I was in The Republic of Georgia, where I was training their army, I remember one day one of the soldiers coming up to me and asking me a very simple question.  He asked me how old I was.  I told him I was 24 which was my age at the time.  He laughed at me and said, " You are just a baby!"  I could tell he was a much older man and I asked his age which was 38.  I asked him how long he had been in the army at which the other soldiers standing around only laughed because he was new with only one or two years experience.  I then told him I had served six years already, which included peace keeping operations in Kosovo, various training operations all over the world, and combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan!  It was this "older" and "wiser" man who felt like the fool because although he was 14 years my senior, age didn't give him the experiences that I had packed into my 24 short years!  Maybe I was a baby, but when it came to soldiering, combat, shooting, navigation, and so much more, this older man could learn how to stay alive from me!

I believe....

That maturity has more to do with what types of

experiences you've had, and what you've learned

from them....and less to do with how many

 birthdays  you've celebrated

This story has taught me that everyone has something that they can learn from another person.  You just have to keep that in the back of your mind with every new person that you meet!

It is this reason that I have included this Page; WHO I LIKE!

Who I like is a compilation of people I have learned from in the fitness industry.  Just like your body is made up of so many muscles which all serve a specific purpose, so too should your tool box be made up of many training, fitness, weight loss and overall health tools.  There is no one way to train!  I don't think there is one method or training style that is the best.  Rather I think you can take some of each method and apply it to your training to keep your body guessing, and keep it interesting and fun.

Buddy Morris- Buddy is the strength and conditioning coach for Pitt Panthers Football.  I have had the unique priveledge of meeting Buddy, and have been able to talk to him about training.  He is a very  knowledgable man with a basic, but effective approach to training athletes. What I like most about watching his interviews is that Buddy tells it like it is, without any sugar coating.  Watch his interviews on youtube here:     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkxt6r1Q8ls&feature=related
